The Kabala originated as an inner esoteric teaching of Judaism. It is a method of teaching which was passed from master to disciple, from teacher to pupil. Kabala is the Hebrew word meaning "to receive" inner wisdom; "from mouth to ear", an oral tradition. It is the body of knowledge.
